"Macon County Sheriff Howard Buffett's substantial contributions to the Decatur community earned national recognition this weekend with a profile on NBC's "Today" show.
NBC News correspondent Harry Smith visited Decatur to chronicle what the piece described as Buffett's "small-town life as he makes the world a better place." Buffett and Smith were shown visiting Crossing Healthcare, Downtown Cafe, the Law Enforcement Training Center and other spots as the two discussed BuffettrCOs background and the tens of millions he has given to the Decatur community through his private foundation.
Buffett, who was appointed Macon County Sheriff just over a year ago, is the son of billionaire investor Warren Buffett. Howard Buffett's ties to Decatur date to the 1990s, when he came to the city to work for Archer Daniels Midland Co.
