• First Year for walnuts

From Trailboss@9:91/20 to All on Sat Oct 22 17:51:00 2016
    Hey all,

Been a fun new learning for my wife and I as we have been proccessing Black Walnuts from our farm. It all started when we thought you know we have lived her for many years but never took and tried to count all the different trees that we had. So I knew there was some walnuts, pecans, hickory, and oaks. So we started with the walnuts. We got up to over 50 and we got thinking wow that is alot and we started looking at what people do with the nuts.
So that started our learning about how to proccess the nuts. We are around 700lbs that we have proccessed so far which have given us around 250lbs of nuts that we have in baskets to dry.
Wife loves all kinds of nuts but I am not much on walnuts. Guess I am going to have to like them a little more now.

I used to dislike walnuts, but I recently tried them covered with caramel,
and they are great that way.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing.. I've would be willing to trade some of my white or brown chicken eggs for nuts. Standing beside the road on Rt119 waiting for people to stop and by my eggs is getting kinda old. Mt Vernon ID hya sounds like a killer road trip ;)

Might have to try that over some ice cream and caramel :) My wife likes nut breads that I have never gotten use to.
