I was just wondering if anyone has used a solar oven...
We have also cooked whole chickens, baked bread, soup and a lot of other things. The really cool part about our sun oven is that it never burns the food. The temperature is usually lower than a traditional oven but you just leave it out longer and it does the same thing... except no burning.

That's pretty cool. How long would it take to cool a whole chicken? I guess it depends on a number of factors.
You mentioned temperatures, does it really get as high as the advertised temperature (360-400 degrees F)?
It does sound like a slow cooker but that's certainly not a bad thing. I love my slow cooker.

I'll have to do some research on solar ovens. Sounds like something I'd like to try :)

Watched a few videos on youtube and really REALLY like the
idea of a solar oven. (I've read ahead in the thread) and like
you I think I'm going to attempt to build a simple one so I can
try it out.
Hi All,
I was just wondering if anyone has used a solar oven...
I met someone awhile back, who built their own, and use it on a daily basis. They are working on getting completely off the grid. (solar
panels, well water, etc) The only thing left for them to do, is find a
way to heat their house in the winter without having to use gas.

I have not but have seen them in action.
In-home heating can be done with kerosene. I use a kero heater when it gets really cold here...which isn't that often.
